The objectives of the kick-off meeting and the summer schools, which bring together the complementary network partners, are to provide the network researchers with the relevant statistical skill set alongside more generic, transferable skills that are essential for any statistician working in medical statistics in general and the early phases of drug development in particular. Additionally these events include strategies to strengthen network-wide interaction which will be invaluable for the future careers of the researchers, the success of the network beyond the initial funding and the overall outputs of the network in terms of research and impact.

Surgery Sessions

The final network-wide training activity is research surgery sessions which will be done using video conferencing. These sessions, will provide a bi-weekly opportunity for researchers to discuss a research challenge with their peers. During each of these surgery sessions one or more of the researchers will outline a particular challenge that they will need to master in order to progress the project and seek ideas and thoughts how to approach this problems for colleagues. This approach will allow the expertise of all researchers to contribute to the individual research project to enhance the quality of the work.
